You may have seen the recent government announcement confirming its plans to legislate for no fault divorce. In the meantime, the current law says unless there has been a period of desertion for two years or you have been separated for two or five years, divorce has to take place on the fact of adultery or unreasonable behaviour.
The majority of divorces in England and Wales are granted on adultery and unreasonable behaviour.
