The UK’s most senior family judge, Sir James Munby, has ruled that women who move in with other men after getting divorced are still entitled to share their ex-husband’s wealth.

The Court of Appeal ruling follows the divorce for Karen Hart and her property mogul husband, John Hart who had been married for over 20 years.

Mr Hart took the case to the Court of Appeal after claiming that the original award to his wife was unfair and did not take into consideration the fact that she was living with another man.

Sir James Munby ruled that ‘the presence of [Mrs Hart’s] new partner in her life did not diminish her needs’.
