Jonathan Baum - Senior Solicitor

Jonathan is a Senior Solicitor in our Wills and Probate Department

Jonathan joined Newtons in September 2020 as a Senior Solicitor in the Wills & Probate department based at the Knaresborough office having been a Partner in a national firm of Solicitors.  He is a highly experienced Wills & Probate Solicitor having qualified in 1995, and a member of the Law Society Probate Section.  As such he has developed and provided specialist tax and estate planning advice nationally and internationally for his clients, including many entrepreneurs and those with family businesses, for whom he has been frequently appointed as an Executor and Trustee.  He has experience in handling complex multi-million pound estates and has advised in respect of estate disputes generally, and successfully settled a seven figure inheritance tax dispute with HMRC on behalf of his clients.  His work has also been recognised in the Legal 500.  Jonathan has acted for clients mainly but not exclusively in Yorkshire.  He has created an extensive range of contacts including accountants, independent financial advisors, estate agents, insurance brokers, bankers, medical professionals, nursing homes and hospices.

Jonathan recognises that it is often a difficult time when clients approach him for his advice and he is quickly able to put them at their ease.  He is consistently praised by his clients for his care and attention and his excellent service.
