Who are Newtons and what are the main values of the company? Now, unbeknownst to Shaun, who’s behind the camera, this question really makes me smile and really is quite personal to me.
When we started the business back in 2009, Sarah and I went to a drinks do, and we got home, and Sarah said she was chatting to some woman who’d said, ‘Who are Newtons?’ She was quite put out by [the question], and so was I, and it’s strange how these things stick with you.
So now, here we are, 16 years on. We employ 110 people and we’ve got 10 offices; we’re doing really well. And I do sometimes smile inwardly and think, yeah, who are Newtons? I want a happy team. I want the clients to be happy, and I want to make a fair profit, fair for the clients and fair for the business. I want the team to feel supported, so that they can do a good job, and I want the clients to feel looked after.
