Our New Harrogate Office: Coming Soon to 7 Cambridge Crescent

Something is happening behind the scaffolding opposite Harrogate’s war memorial. Newtons Solicitors bought 7 Cambridge Crescent some two years ago, a five-storey listed building in the heart of the town, and is restoring it as our new Harrogate flagship office.

Until it opens, our Harrogate team is where it has always been: 8 Princes Square, HG1 1LX. Same people, same phone number, same service.

Why Cambridge Crescent?

Newtons was founded in 2009 by Chris Newton, who had spent years as a partner at a Harrogate firm before starting his own. Harrogate has been part of the firm’s story from the beginning, and this building gives that story a permanent home in the town centre.

7 Cambridge Crescent sits directly opposite the war memorial, a few doors from Bettys and Caffè Nero. It has housed many different businesses over the years and had stood empty before we took it on. It was not an easy purchase. As a listed building needing full refurbishment, mainstream lenders treated it as a development rather than an office, and the planning process had to run before the building work could begin. As Chris put it in his video tour, if it had been easy, there would have been far more competition for it.

What the New Office will Offer

The building has been stripped back to its shell and is being rebuilt across five levels. Our plans, subject to final design and planning consent, are:

  • Basement: staff gym, sauna, as well as secure archive and document storage, including a dedicated vault for clients’ wills and deeds.
  • Ground floor: a welcoming reception, support team desks and client meeting rooms, all on the level and directly off Cambridge Crescent.
  • First floor: the main working floor for our solicitors, with views across the town centre.
  • Second floor: board room, lounge and library.
  • Third floor: a two-bed, en suite apartment, to be used as a company flat.

The result will be a modern, accessible office inside a restored period building: more meeting space for clients, more room for the team to grow, and a permanent Harrogate address that reflects the firm’s roots in the town.
